About My work
I’m Jordan Carroll, The Remote Job Coach. I thought it was a clever name, but I still find many people who ask, “Jordan, what the hell does a Remote Job Coach do?”
I create content, courses, and coaching programs to help them learn an effective strategy for landing legitimate remote job opportunities to gain more freedom and flexibility in their lives. I provide both free resources and investment based options for you to level up your remote job search game.
How It All Happened
I’ve worked remotely since 2013 for:
A global Fortune 50 tech company with over 400k employees (IBM)
A fully distributed, remote-first travel company with 150 employees (Remote Year)
Multiple other startups with a range of 2-50 employees as well as my own businesses
These experiences gave me a unique perspective, and I realized:
There’s a learning curve to both finding remote jobs as well as becoming an efficient, high-performing remote worker. These aren’t subjects taught in school.
So, I set out to educate others.
My alter ego #TheRemoteJobCoach is a result of helping others learn a proven system that enabled me to get hired to work remotely as a high performer, without the “traditional application process.”
My Remote Career Timeline
As a Remote Employee
I found my first remote job on Craigslist as a telemarketer in 2013. I then worked remotely for a Fortune 50 company and multiple startups (all different industries and styles of remote), which provided me an extremely unique perspective. Little did I know, the remote work movement would become the most impactful cultural phenomenon in my life.
As a Remote Freelancer
In 2017, I freelanced as a writer, marketer, and sales consultant. I was coaching on the side to help growth-minded individuals improve their lives and careers. These steps expanded me into the digital nomad world and with the freelance income, I was able to start traveling internationally.
As a Remote Business Owner
After years of working for other companies and refining my coaching services as a side-gig, I recognized a huge gap in education for finding remote work. I was able to use my own experiences to build out programming for my potential students. After initial waves of clients were getting results, I realized I had found my calling.
WHY being Remote is Important
It fundamentally changed what was possible for me!
Living my Ideal LifeStyle
I built my work around a life of travel, inhabiting 15 different countries in 3 years, ultimately moving to Mexico. It gave me time to pursue hobbies: video production, Spanish, & stand-up comedy.
Prioritizing my Health
It gave me the flexibility to prioritize health. I lost 40 lbs & 15% BF in 90 days, quit cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and started competing in Spartan Races, Tough Mudders, & international marathons.
creating real connections
It gave me the freedom to meet hundreds of connections on LinkedIn IRL & join communities like Nomad Cruise, Remote Year, Dynamite Circle, NomadBase, Running Remote, Nomads Giving Back & more.
what you might not know
I'm passionate about personal development, spirituality, and growth. I value self-actualization, extreme ownership of everything, and radical honesty.
Outside of speaking and teaching concepts of remote work and job-seeking, I am an artist at heart. Whether through video, writing, or podcasting, I am always creating. While I have an artist's heart, I have a structured mind. I'm a productivity expert who geeks out about my weekly calendar, Sunday reflection process, and Asana SOP templates.
I love sports. I’ve been playing a variety since I was a kid but love basketball the most. I have a Boston Celtics tattoo on my back and can talk about the NBA for hours on end with a stranger who will humor me. Find me at a karaoke bar, bowling alley, basketball court, smoothie shop, or on the beach and I’m in my happy place. I also successfully quit alcohol and coffee, but you’ll almost always find me sipping Yerba Mate or a matcha latte with full fat, canned coconut milk.
I've lived in 15+ countries on 5 continents, built a six-figure coaching business, and been featured in dozens of notable publications, podcasts, and keynoted several international conferences. I’m an extrovert who loves being on stage.
I get along most with others who are addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count. If that sounds like you, we’ll be friends.
