FlexJobs Review: Why Pay to Search for Remote Jobs?

What is FlexJobs?

If you’re a remote job seeker you’re probably wondering where to find the best selection of jobs online. You don’t have to look far to find Flexjobs at the top or near the top of the list by most opinions.

Flexjobs is a paid subscription online job directory focusing on flexible and remote work. They claim to be the #1 job site to find remote, work from home, and flexible job opportunities.

In this video and article, I’m going to give you a walkthrough of the FlexJobs site in detail so you can see it behind the scenes before you invest, I’ll tell you why it’s my favorite site to find remote jobs for my clients, and how you can save up to 50% on your subscription.

Is FlexJobs Legit?

FlexJobs is not a scam! They’ve been around since 2007, they have a Better Business Bureau A+ rating and currently have 27,263 jobs listed from 5,743 companies. They’ve been featured in Forbes, USA Today, Fast Company, CNBC, and The Wall Street Journal. They are legit!

How Much Does FlexJobs Cost?

There are different pricing models depending on your level of commitment, and they are incredibly affordable. You can try for a week, a month, 3 months, or a year, and they pretty much always have promotions going on. Here are the current prices:

At the time of filming, FlexJobs has options for 1 Week ($6.95), 1 Month ($14.96), 3 Months ($29.95), or 1 Year ($49.95).

As a FlexJobs partner, I get access to coupon codes! At the time of this article, you can get up to an additional 50% off during the holidays using the Code “NEWYEAR” from December 18th, 2020 to January 10th, 2021. Click on the promo picture below to redeem.

Does FlexJobs Guarantee Employment?

No! No site can guarantee you a job, because no one can guarantee you do the work to make it happen. The site is a directory you can use to find specific remote or flexible opportunities and the companies hiring for them. However, FlexJobs does offer a satisfaction guarantee. If you’re unhappy with your subscription for any reason, you can get your money back within 30 days. What I love about their policy is that it’s incredibly fair and they’re reasonably priced.

How Do You Use FlexJobs?

The point of this article and accompanying video is not to go through everything, but the features of FlexJobs which I feel are the most useful and important. If you haven’t yet, you can watch the video version of the article at the top or linked here. That way, you can see a live walkthrough of the different sections I’m writing about.

  • New Jobs of Interest: This section shows you based on what you’ve put in your resume profile, what types of new jobs might be a fit for you.

  • Activity Log: This helps you never lose track of what you’ve seen! It saves the jobs you’ve viewed, applied to, and the specific searches you want to keep to use every time you log in.

  • Resume Profile: Where you can detail and set criteria or parameters for exactly what you’re looking for, and it will guide what comes up in your jobs of interest section.

  • Learning Center: FlexJobs provides all sorts of webinars, training, and courses you can take to bolster your knowledge of the platform and your ability to use it to find remote work.

  • Advanced Search: The best feature of the platform in my opinion — it’s where you can exact keywords and a wide range of filters to search exactly what you’re looking for.

There are also many more sections including the 100 surprising jobs list (some of which I post every week in my free group here), research companies tab, and gig jobs guide with dozens of sites to help you find flexible work locally or online through other sites. FlexJobs also provides pre-negotiated discounts to over 60 products and services for its members. And at this time they are also developing a beta of their mobile app which I think would be really interesting to see once it’s out.

Is it Worth Paying for FlexJobs?

In short, the answer is yes. You have nothing to lose as they offer a satisfaction guarantee and the investment amount is insignificant in relation to the value you get from the advanced search and other resources.

Because they can monetize with subscription revenue, they can pay people whose sole job is to vet the listings. That means no scam listings, every company is hand-screened, and the site is Ad-free.

In order to do a job search properly, it helps to invest in yourself. It not only shows you’re more serious, but it adds accountability and provides a tool to save you time.

FlexJobs Is a Good Start (But It’s Not Everything)

Just because you have FlexJobs to work with doesn’t mean you’ll find a remote position, there’s still a ton of strategy around using it effectively that will determine your success. If you want additional help executing your strategy in your remote job search, with or without using FlexJobs, feel free to set up a remote job strategy session here.
