My Friend's First MMA Fight in a Foreign Country

The best way to get integrated into a foreign culture is through sports.

I'm highly competitive and love how sports transcend everything.

My fondest memories of travel were on random basketball courts, playing pickup with strangers who didn't speak the same language.

It's also a great way to meet other nomads living in a foreign country long-term.

When I met David Gauthier and learned more about his story as a Canadian living full time in Mexico, I knew we'd get along well.

We started training together, whether weights at the gym, boxing at #FCMacacos, or random challenges.

We became accountability partners in all parts of life.

Everyone NEEDS someone like David.

He once challenged me to a taco eating contest and ate 24 tacos in 30 minutes, to my 21.

My punishment was to run a half marathon, so he showed up and ran it faster than me by 40 minutes.

He's one of those guys...

Tell him he can't do something, he'll make you watch while you hold his beer, and do it better than 99% of the population.⁣ ⁣

So when he said he wanted to have his first official MMA fight, I had no doubts.

This video is a behind-the-scenes vlog at what it took him to prepare and dominate.

If training for a first fight wasn't hard enough, he did it in his 3rd language.
