How to Travel With One Bag: Minimalist Travel Around the World
When traveling do you find yourself frustrated with your inability to pack “light”?
Do you stand in line at the airport, ashamed of yourself at how many pieces of luggage it’s going to take you to get through a week-long vacation?
Well, I’ve been there.
And, yes, this is a #TBT to a time when the world was “travelable.”
When I decided to travel the world extensively, starting in early 2018, I knew I didn’t want to have that feeling in the airport again. I discarded and donated ~75% of my belongings.
Among those: my car, at least ten pairs of shoes, and even some of my formerly prized, yet ill-fitting, basketball jerseys.
It was the start of a drastic lifestyle change that I maintain today: Minimalism.
This video was shot in April 2019 with Kevin Martin aka 30AndAWakeUp.
I was living in Medellin, Colombia at the time, and his remote year group came into town.
I was immediately fascinated with him because he traveled lighter than me
I was going on about a year with one backpack and a carry-on -- him only a backpack.
And here's the thing:
One bag travel for years at a time isn’t just for grungy backpackers in between filthy hostels.
Minimalism is accessible for all lifestyles.
Kevin is next level in his prep
From advocating for jackets that double as airplane pillows, wearing Nikes at nightclubs, and finding the most smell-resistant undergarments, you’ll learn a TON about ONE BAG travel in this video (for once you can finally travel, again).
How do you travel - minimalist or profligate?
(Yes, I looked up “opposite of minimalist” and that word came up in Google 😂).
