Why I Quit Coffee for Matcha

I quit coffee 119 days ago.

Why?

While some studies show coffee to have benefits, it’s still a substance, and any substance can be abused.

As a traveler, it was my:

☕️ Lifeline during 4:30 am zombie walks through airports

☕️ “Acceptable” replacement for alcohol, which I quit 6 months ago

☕️ Familiar substance no matter the country, co-working space, or hotel I was drinking WAY too much coffee, including as late as 11pm.

The result?

Poor sleep, energy crashes, increased anxiety, and dependence.

Each moment without a full mug I felt compelled to get more.

It was always available and cheap.

Energy is my foundation for success and I had to disrupt my habit.

I tried Steve O'Dell's Raspberry flavored matcha over a year ago (which I'm begging him to bring back), and was hooked to this amazing green tea.

Like any other habit, the central message of this hack is “AVAILABILITY”

🍵I had to make matcha as EASY as coffee.

This goes for anything in your life. Make the good habits easy, make bad habits difficult.

Thanks, Steve for being on my first episode of Nomad Hacks, a series of short impactful videos to support your professional and personal growth through locational independence.
