Why Two of My Clients Declined Remote Job Interviews Last Week

Yes, two of my clients DECLINED interviews with companies they had originally reached out to apply.

Why?

  • The first one had been experiencing multiple rescheduling, cancellations and overall disorganization in the hiring process that led her to believe that working for the company there would only be more of those types of issues.

  • In the second situation, a different client of mine was called for an interview but the company required it's employees to track every hour of their work tasks (micromanagement), and the position ended up being part-time to start, where she would have to work up to getting full-time benefits.

Now, why is this important that they both canceled their interviews?

Because a job search isn't one-sided.

Often job seekers think that they need to do everything to impress employers and, when desperate for a job, I know how that can be.

I see it every day, especially during COVID.

But, you don't have to sacrifice your morals.

How?

You need OPTIONS!

Both of these clients had more than one company they were going through the interview process with. That made it much easier to stick to their guns. Because they didn't have to act out of desperation, they could ensure that they were coming from a healthy place to say "no."

Here's the response that the first client sent to the company:

A polite declination of a job offer

Does that sound like a desperate jobseeker?

NO WAY!

And she uses that to her advantage.

The more you can be unattached to the outcome of any particular application you send, the more attractive you are to employers.

It doesn't mean not to care, but it means you'll be able to stick up for yourself and what you truly need out of a remote job to be happy.

Do you find that you're acting out of desperation right now?

If so, there's help.

I work with my clients to help get them out of the desperate hells of applying over and over again waiting for ANYONE to respond.

We'll change that mindset so that we get targeted from the start and make it impossible for them NOT to respond!

The first step is a phone call with me to see if it's a good fit

We'll dive deep into your search, challenges, goals, and I'll tell you the exact process we could use to get you there. But, this call is for serious remote job seekers only -- those who crave change and are willing to commit to themselves to get it!
