Can You Spot The Gringo?

One of the spirituality-enriching parts about living in other countries is those moments where you truly feel like you're part of the culture.⠀

For me, I recall times where I've:⠀

🥘 Sat in a quaint dining room of a local family's house — hours outside of any main city — savoring the flavors of a century-old family recipe I knew I'd never taste again...⠀

🚕 Maintained an hour-long, complicated conversation in Spanish I didn't realize I was capable of with a random taxi driver who appreciated my efforts to keep up...⠀

🏀 Joined a Mexican basketball league (pre-corona), and learned 8 pm game time actually means 9 pm, all the words that accompany "pinche" when you miss a shot, and that slang on the court is 1000% more difficult to understand than what you'll find in a Spanish textbook...⠀

#RemoteWork has afforded me these privileges.⠀

The reward of immersion is not getting lost in a culture...⠀

It's finding more of yourself in it.⠀

How have you found more of yourself in other places?⠀
